The Story
It was a clear, moonlit night. Discord, from within his stone prison, had been plotting a way to get back at those inferior ponies for locking him away once more. Night after night, day after day, he had been hatching his plan, perfecting it, and this night--Nightmare Night--was the one that came to herald his new-found freedom. Mustering up the rest of his strength, he sent dreams to six mysterious ponies, beckoning them to gather at the statue, where he would further instruct them. He promised them power in a new world--something nopony of their kind would be able to ignore.
Each of the six met at the statue that night. But nothing happened. Left alone for so long, the ponies began to bicker amongst themselves, setting free the beast that is Discord. "Well done," he praised them, "you have taken the first step on our journey to a new world."
"Master Discord," one of the ponies began, "what are your wishes?"
Discord summoned, as if from thin air, six pieces of...some type of jewelry. The ponies stared in wonder at the...things...but were a bit too afraid to ask what they could be. No matter, Discord read the puzzled looks on their faces.
"These," the beast announced while adorning each pony with their respective piece, "are the Elements of Discord. Celestia thought she had destroyed them, but I've kept them, all these years, waiting for you."
Each pony looked at the Element they had been bestowed. Yet another one spoke up. "But sir, what are we to do with these?"
"Simple," Discord chuckled. "Simple."
Meanwhile, in the center of Ponyville, Twilight Sparkle and her friends were disbanding after yet another amazing Nightmare Night. They bid each other goodbye, and each returned to their respective homes. Twilight trotted along, yawning as she went. "That was the best Nightmare Night ever, wasn't it, Spike?" But the young dragon gave no response. Upon glancing at him, the pony discovered that her number-one assistant had fallen asleep yet again. She chuckled to herself, and continued on to the library.
A strange feeling wafted over her as she entered her home, but she didn't believe in the supernatural, so it was easy to shrug the whole thing off and enter anyway.
"Twilight Sparkle," a voice greeted her. "We've come for you."
Throbbing and sore, Twilight came to in....in....wait, where was she? And when did she become unconscious? She began to shake her head in an attempt to clear her mind and think more clearly, but a stabbing pain in her neck stopped her. All she could figure was that, whatever had happened back in the library, was something that involved her getting mangled.
Footsteps echoed down the corridor in front of her tiny cell. "Well, well, well," came an eerily familiar voice, "who do we have here? None other than my favorite pony...Twilight Sparkle!"
"Discord!" Twilight shouted as she, wincing, tried to stand, "y-you won't get away with this!"
"But I'm afraid, my dear Twilight, I already have."
